Steve Biko began to analyse and criticise the current state of the nation. He was a medical student at Natal University. Elected SRC member and expelled from Wentworth in 1972. Steve Bantu Biko born December 18th 1946, spearheaded the Black Consciousness Movement. His death, a product of Apartheid and the then corrupted medical profession.
Today, an art piece with the face of Steve Biko rests quietly on the walls of the department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University.
